SANDFORD LANGUAGE INSTITUTE offers a new course - English for Academic Purposes. Students face a variety of writing tasks as they work towards their chosen degree. Completing writing assignments successfully can be challenging at times, particularly if English is not your first language.
The aim of the new course is to strengthen your writing skills. It is geared towards those whose first language is other than English. The course programme will include the following aspects: structuring essays (analysing constituent parts), word order (basic patterns and major variants), working with academic vocabulary (special emphasis on verbs, collocations, i.e. the combination of words, and fixed expressions), establishing a clear connection of ideas (sentence connectors, discourse markers).
